Chimpanzee Wannabe

I wanna be
Like a chimpanzee
Wild and free

I'd run through the forest and I'd swing from the trees,
Hairy and naked as I'd do what I please
I'd rather eat bananas and drag my knuckles on the ground
Then be in the big city and let the bastards grind me down

I wanna be
Like a chimpanzee
Wild and free

Don't let me live to a ticking time clock
Don't wanna be caged in rush hour gridlock
I need a life that's fit for the kind of beast I am
A way to save the ape that's inside of every man

I wanna be
Like a chimpanzee
Wild and free

Some say that apes are savage, but I know that that's not true
So listen to the chimpanzee that lives inside of you.
To cure my future shock I need to get back to my roots
Just for a little while I need to be a hairy brute.

So come and be
Like a chimpanzee
Wild and free.
